Sampdoria patron Massimo Ferrero said coach Claudio Ranieri is safe at the Marassi but admitted they had ‘discussed the performance’ against Torino.

Antonio Candreva and Fabio Quagliarella helped Sampdoria turn the game around at the Grande Torino, but the Granata equalised and claimed a point in the 2-2 draw.

The President reassured Ranieri’s position at the club is not under any threat, despite a run of five games without a win, including the Coppa Italia exit against local rivals Genoa.

The President reassured Ranieri’s position at the club is not under any threat, despite a run of five games without a win, including the Coppa Italia exit against local rivals Genoa.

“Ranieri’s future is absolutely not in question,” he told Tiki Taka. “There are no problems. After the match we discussed the performance, but we do that every time, not only after Torino.

“I didn’t like the first half, luckily [goalkeeper Emil] Audero saved everything. He’s a top goalkeeper.”

Sampdoria host Milan on Sunday and Ferrero predicts two goals from his Blucerchiati against the League leaders.

“I hope they go home sweaty, but not for fatigue but the two goals we will score.”
