The Blucerchiati President spoke to Sportitalia this evening and was his usual ebullient self, spilling the beans on some transfer deals.

He was asked if Fiorentina or Milan had the upper hand for Belgian midfielder Praet this summer.

“If the fast lane is correct, and it isn’t always in football, then Praet ought to join Milan. (Former Sampdoria Coach Marco) Giampaolo was in love with him, a real world class talent who had an extraordinary performance against Juventus.

“Last season, Giampaolo begged me not to sell Praet and I made him happy. He’s a great Coach and I think he’ll do well, even if he might need some time to settle in at Milan.”

Ferrero also discussed some of the other potential transfer deals surrounding Sampdoria.

“We’re no longer in talks for (PSV Eindhoven striker) Lammers, because we arrived late to that party. We are in negotiations for Hurtado and Gimnasia La Plata are asking for €9m, but he is only 19 and still has a lot to prove. It’ll take the right price.

“We are talking for (KRC Genk midfielder) Malinovskyi and we really like him.”
