Ferrero: ‘No Cassano for Samp’

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has “the final word” on Antonio Cassano and he’s closing the door. “We don’t like remakes.”

There were reports Coach Walter Zenga threatened to quit if Samp signed free agent Cassano.

“I found the side was very relaxed, without problems,” Ferrero told reporters after a 3-0 friendly win over Kalloni.

There were reports Coach Walter Zenga threatened to quit if Samp signed free agent Cassano.

“I found the side was very relaxed, without problems,” Ferrero told reporters after a 3-0 friendly win over Kalloni.

“Clearly I have the final word, as I am the owner and President, so any player I get is the right one for the Samp project and Zenga is happy to have them.

“Cassano? Enough of this saga, we have to focus on playing the Europa League preliminary round and the transfer market is open until September 3.

“Cassano will not come to Sampdoria because we don’t like remakes. If Cassano is turned into a disturbance, then enough, we won’t touch the locker room.

“If someone does want to disturb us, I’ll send him packing…”

Ferrero backed new boss Zenga after Sinisa Mihajlovic left to take over at Milan.

“Last year I saw where Samp were lacking and tried to bring in the right elements in the right places, because I came to Sampdoria in order to win.

“Now we will get another two players – one an important striker and also a central midfielder. I want to give the fans and Coach a competitive squad. We will do even better than last season.”
