Massimo Ferrero confirms he is “trying to sell Sampdoria, as I want to bring Palermo back to where this club deserves to be.”

The Blucerchiati President had previously rejected offers to sell up, but confessed to Il Giornale di Sicilia that he is just waiting for the right buyer.

On top of that, he also already has a plan for his next step and it is saving Palermo from bankruptcy, or at least helping them begin again from Serie D.

“I am trying to sell Sampdoria, this has been known for some time. I don’t know what more I can do there,” said Ferrero in the Sicilian paper.

“However, I am a man of action and not words. If I am fortunate enough to repeat what I did in my five years at Sampdoria, then Palermo will be safe and sound.

“If at the moment of the Palermo auction I have not yet sold Sampdoria, it won’t be a problem. I’ve been in contact with Dario Mirri for months and we’ve been talking about Palermo for a long time.”

Mirri is a local businessman who had already invested in Palermo Calcio this year with a sponsorship deal worth €2.8m to keep them afloat.

“I’ve always been in love with Palermo, a city that helped me grow in my cinema career. I am accustomed to big stages and will try, if possible, to bring Palermo back to where this club deserves to be,” concluded movie producer Ferrero.

Meanwhile, the current owners of Palermo Calcio, Arkus Network, continue to insist they will be able to register for the new Serie B season or sue in order to block their exclusion pending appeals.

They failed to meet the deadline for financial guarantees because the broker dealing with the paperwork “defrauded” the club, never actually making contact with the Bulgarian insurance company.
