The 2-0 result at Hellas Verona today was their sixth defeat in seven Serie A games, interrupted only by a 1-0 win over Torino.

“We are all disappointed, it's clear for all to see what is happening,” Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia.

“We will get together, have a meeting and I will make a decision on what is best for Sampdoria and for Di Francesco too.

“We're a little stunned right now by what we've seen. So we wait until tomorrow to talk it over and make the decision for what is best for Sampdoria.”

It has been suggested that the Blucerchiati are struggling to focus during months of increasingly tense takeover talks, with ultras protesting President Ferrero.

“All that matters right now is Sampdoria. I don't think we need to give ourselves alibis, as the negotiations for the club sale shouldn't make any difference to the players or Coach.

“We signed an exclusive deal to negotiate (with Gianluca Vialli’s group), I think it expires tomorrow, but then we'll see what happens. The important thing is that it doesn't matter at all – at all – to the squad.

“We bought nine players and sold two this summer, it's not as if there was a clearout. I think at the moment there's still a bit of Marco Giampaolo in this team and not enough Di Francesco.”
