Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has flown out to the United States and is expected to discuss Gianluca Vialli’s takeover bid.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, news agency Ansa and more, movie producer Ferrero will use his work trip as an opportunity to consider the latest proposal from American investors.

The group, who are represented by former Samp icon Vialli, are not the only ones attempting to purchase the Serie A club.

Ferrero has so far refused to confirm or deny the club is for sale, but also hinted that the proposals have so far not matched his valuation, which is believed to be €130m.

While the ownership situation is still in flux, that means Ferrero will also postpone his meeting with Coach Marco Giampaolo to discuss next season’s transfer strategy.

Giampaolo has repeatedly said over the last few weeks that he is no longer prepared to aim for “mid-table mediocrity” and wants Samp to increase their ambitions.
