Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has confirmed Roberto D’Aversa doesn’t risk losing his job. ‘He has my total trust’.

D’Aversa replaced Claudio Ranieri ahead of 2021-22 but has struggled to convince at Marassi in the first months of the campaign.

Rumours have emerged regarding the former Parma coach’s future in Liguria, but the patron has now confirmed his job is not uncertain.

Serie A Highlights: Cagliari 3-1 Sampdoria

“Why does everyone keep saying that D’Aversa is under pressure,” Ferrero told Il Secolo XIX. “How can I say that he has my total trust, as well as the team?

“Of course, he has my trust, he and the whole team. I repeat what I said a few days ago: I’m convinced the few points collected so far are the result of incidents that are going against us.

“If you look at that last year with Ranieri, things went our way. If things haven’t turned out very well so far, it means we have credit with ‘Lady Luck’ and we will soon collect what we are owed.”

D’Aversa has picked up six points in the first eight games, four less than Ranieri had at the same time last term.

The Blucerchiati are winless in four Serie A games and prepare to host Spezia at the Luigi Ferraris on Friday night.
