Massimo Ferrero has reflected on his post-Derby della Lanterna celebrations and hinted at a future move for Antonio Cassano.

The Sampdoria President notably took to the field in celebration following his side’s 1-0 win over city rivals Genoa, but as he admitted, he shouldn’t have.

“I am glad I gave this satisfaction to my people. I am instinctive, I’m a man of moments – I do what I feel, I am passionate,” Ferrero has explained to Tiki Taka this week.

“I am glad I gave this satisfaction to my people. I am instinctive, I’m a man of moments – I do what I feel, I am passionate,” Ferrero has explained to Tiki Taka this week.

“The fans always call me, they are friendly because I am a little like them. I’ll tell you one thing, yesterday the game was Genoa-Sampdoria, for which I could not go in the field because [Genoa President Enrico] Preziosi and his staff had banned me.

“I went to the gate and they would not open it, then I looked at [the employee[ and told him to open up, he got scared and opened everything.”

Ferrero was asked about continued links between Samp and Parma’s Cassano, and if there was any truth to a potential return to Marassi for the No 99.

“Maybe. I have spoken to him recently and Cassano is one of the few indisputable Italian champions – if he is helped in the head a little more he would be the best.”
