“Montella asked us for certain players and we tried to oblige. Personally I did everything to give him what he asked for.

“Every Coach has his system and vision of the game. Our priorities are the motivation: we want only motivated players to come to Samp.

“Soriano? Keeping him wasn’t a sacrifice. Everyone wanted him because he’s very good but I kept him firmly. Will he leave in June? Time will tell.

“A lot of teams wanted Sala because he’s good and he’s young with great potential. We made the investment in him because he’s a youngster with great potential.

“A regret? Not managing to buy Marco Arnautovic. He’s a striker who I’ve always liked and would’ve signed, I wanted him but we didn’t talk and we came in too late.

“That could’ve been my masterpiece. I tried but didn’t manage, it was a shame.

“Have I demobilised Samp? Not at all! Only Eder left. My Coach is happy and satisfied.”
