Former Juventus defender Ciro Ferrara suggests Adrien Rabiot thought his second goal against Sampdoria on Sunday night would have been disallowed, making a comparison with Milan‘s Ismael Bennacer.

Rabiot inspired Juventus’ 4-2 win against Sampdoria on Sunday with a brace, but his second strike was a controversial one, given that the ex-PSG midfielder appeared to touch the ball with his left arm prior to finding the net.

The Bianconeri midfielder initially didn’t celebrate, but VAR didn’t cancel the goal because there wasn’t a clear image that could prove Rabiot had touched the ball with his arm.

“Body language is important. Rabiot stopped and didn’t celebrate,” ex-Juventus defender Ferrara said during DAZN’s post-match show on Monday night.

“The same happened tonight [Monday night] with Bennacer. When Milan were given the penalty, he remained still, he didn’t even appeal for it.”

Bennacer had earned a spot-kick in Milan’s 1-1 draw against Salernitana on Monday but VAR overruled it after an on-field review. The Milan midfielder also appeared emotionless when the Rossoneri were awarded a spot-kick and didn’t protest after the VAR check.

The Rossoneri were held to a 1-1 draw at San Siro and sit fourth in the table, just one point above José Mourinho’s Roma.
