Fernando is “very happy and ready for Sampdoria” after flying in to complete his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Brazilian midfielder was greeted by reporters and fans at the airport in Milan before heading off to Genoa.
“I am very happy to be joining Samp, as it is a very important club,” Fernando told Sky Sport Italia.
“I spoke to Mircea Lucescu about Italian football and he said great things. I am ready for Sampdoria.”

The transfer is believed to have cost €8m and he will undergo his medical on Monday.
