Former England defender Rio Ferdinand believes the Three Lions would beat ‘both Spain and Italy’ and shouldn’t care who they play in the Final. ‘I feel England are the best team’.

England are unbeaten in the European Championship so far and have yet to concede in the five games during the competition.

The Three Lions now prepare to face Denmark in the semi-finals tonight and the Danes arrive from three great performances against Russia, Wales and Czech Republic.

Ferdinand stressed England must ‘get through’ the Danes first, but seems sure Gareth Southgate’s men will reach the showpiece at Wembley.

Italy are waiting for the winner in the Final on Sunday, as the Azzurri overcame Spain on penalties on Tuesday.

However, when Ferdinand was asked who he would have preferred to meet in a potential Final, the former Manchester United defender said it ‘doesn’t matter’, because England are the ‘better team’.

“England, from their perspective, and I’ve been up here how times now, showing the confidence? It doesn’t matter who goes through, if you’re England,” Ferdinand told BBC.

“I believe England beat both of these sides. I just feel that no one can compete with us right now, the confidence we’ve got. People might say I’m getting carried away, I don’t care!

“What I’ve seen, I feel England are the better team, and the best team, and they beat both of these teams. But we’ve got to get through Denmark first.”
