Salvatore Sirigu could be the next Italian player to make a move to Turkey, as it’s reported he has been approached by Fenerbahce.

He would be the second Italy international to join Fenerbahce this summer, as they already snapped up striker Joao Pedro from Cagliari.

Sirigu is a free agent after his experience at Genoa, where he was unable to avoid their relegation to Serie B.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the 35-year-old goalkeeper is considering the move to the Turkish Super Lig.

His previous clubs include Palermo, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Torino and Genoa.

Sirigu had also been linked with Napoli, Lazio or Serie B outfit Reggina this summer.

He has 28 senior caps for Italy to his name and was part of the squad that won the EURO 2020 tournament.

There are numerous Serie A figures in Turkey this season, including coaches Andrea Pirlo and Vincenzo Montella, plus players Mario Balotelli, Davide Biraschi, Fabio Borini, Stefano Okaka and Emiliano Viviano.

  1. Ridiculous that we have foreign keepers in the league and the quality if a Sirigu may have to play in Turkey. Serie A owners along with the BS tax system that discourages keeping Italians in Serie A are equally Shameful. Absolutely shameful.
