The announcement from UEFA makes history, as the 35-year-old French official recently blew the whistle for the Women’s World Cup Final between the United States and the Netherlands.
She is already the first female referee in Ligue 1, as in April she was in charge when Amiens and Strasbourg faced off.
However, this is the first time a woman will officiate a competitive men’s match organised by UEFA.
Frappart will not be alone, as she’s accompanied by assistants Manuela Nicolosi (France) and Michelle O’Neal (Republic of Ireland).
The fourth official will be Turkey’s Cuneyt Cakir.
