Felipe Anderson thanks Maurizio Sarri for having ‘faith’ in him and can see the progress in this Lazio side during their second season together after beating Atalanta.

The Biancocelesti sent out a real statement with their 2-0 victory in Bergamo, inflicting the first defeat of the season on Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

It was achieved without injured hitman Ciro Immobile, but they kept their sixth consecutive Serie A clean sheet and caught La Dea on 24 points.

Mattia Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson finished off well-worked team moves to secure the 2-0 result.

“We’ve been working together for a while now, the first season didn’t go the way we expected, but we proved how focused and aggressive we were from the start, fighting for every ball,” Felipe Anderson told DAZN.

“It was not easy against Atalanta, especially without our captain, but we knew that we had to be fully concentrated and give our all for him too, as the coach said. We are happy with this result.”

The former West Ham United winger was used as the centre-forward replacement for Immobile, a role he is not entirely suited to.

“I am accustomed to learning every movement in attack. Immobile is one of the best strikers in Europe when it comes to his movement off the ball, so I always watched him and learned so much.

“The coach asks a lot of me and puts his faith in me, so that is what I need to give my all in any position where I am used.”

Considering Lazio are flying so high in Serie A, what is their objective for this season and can they challenge for the Scudetto?

“We have to take it one game at a time, having the right attitude from the start and taking control of the match with our style of football. Every match is like a final for us.”

  1. The 2nd team from Rome sadly wasn’t able to scratch out a point so Napoli are 5 ahead.

Great game lads, no Ciro yet clean sheet away from home. Gasp is fuming let’s go.
