Felipe Anderson wouldn’t say if the slalom through Cagliari defenders was the best goal of his career, but the Lazio forward is targeting a Champions League spot.

The striker is known for being mercurial, as he can make no impact at all for weeks on end, but is also capable of goals like the one he scored this evening in the 3-0 victory away to Cagliari.

He gathered from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and dribbled calmly through the entire defence to deposit into the bottom corner.

Felipe Anderson had also provided the assist for Luis Alberto, after Ciro Immobile’s opening penalty.

“We were disappointed at recent results, but knew that if we continued to play like that, the results would arrive. We are happy tonight as we take home three very important points,” the Brazilian told Sky Sport Italia.

Maurizio Sarri always complained Lazio didn’t have time to work between fixtures, so now they are out of the Europa League and Coppa Italia, is it a coincidence their performances have improved?

“Having more time to work in training certainly helps, we also reach the games with more sharpness, but we know that if we want to qualify for Europe, we have to be able to handle a match every three days.”

Former West Ham United flop Felipe Anderson was asked if this was the best goal of his career.

“I have a few goals that I like. I felt really good today and the ball kept landing in the right place. I am glad to have scored and made the result safe.”

Lazio are now on 46 points, one point behind both Roma and Atalanta who are in joint fifth place, although La Dea have a game in hand. Are they still challenging for a top four finish?

“We know that we’re a strong team, we have solidity and can challenge for the Champions League. It is difficult, but we can do it.”
