“It is difficult to say goodbye to those you love,” wrote Felipe Anderson on Instagram.

“I wanted to say so many things right now, but I don’t even know where to start. What I feel for the Lazio fans, for this club and this city is indescribable.

“The moment has come and I am very proud of these five intense and marvellous years, so I can only remember the good things. From every training session and the laughs with my teammates, to every victory, to the Lazio fans singing my name.

“That is what I will forever keep in my heart. I have so much pride in being able to say I wore this jersey. You should know that I will never forget you and I will never stop supporting you. I thank you with all my heart for what you’ve done for me.

“It is difficult to leave this all behind, but we have to go forward in life and I am happy. We had a wonderful time together and it was all worth it. I LOVE YOU LAZIO FANS. I LOVE YOU LAZIO.”

Felipe Anderson also posted a video on social media so he could give the message personally.

“It is time to say goodbye, even if it never easy. I am proud of all we did together. I am proud to have worn this jersey for five years in so many battles.

“I’ll carry with me all the joys and victories we had together, but also that chant you dedicated to me. I will always have you in my heart and I hope you win wherever you go, always.

“I will forever be your fan.”
