Federico Chiesa played a decisive role in Juventus’ 1-0 win over Udinese, earning praise from the Italian press.

The 25-year-old Italian winger suffered his cruciate ligament rupture almost exactly a year ago and now he’s finally close to reaching full fitness following a long recovery. Chiesa has made a handful of substitute appearances since November and played around 30 minutes of Juventus’ home clash with Udinese on Saturday, where he provided the assist for Danilo’s last-minute winner.

La Gazzetta dello Sport had high praise for Chiesa, suggesting that a player of his calibre doesn’t need a full 90 minutes to make a key impact, saying: “A half-hour can be enough if you are in another category. Perfect cutback for Paredes’ invitation, delightful assist for Danilo. Yes, Fede is back.”

Corriere dello Sport agreed with their Milanese colleagues, impressed with his flexibility and ability to make a difference, commenting: “First on the right and then on the left, he becomes decisive at the first ball in the middle of the penalty area with the assist for Danilo.”

Corriere della Sera drew attention to Chiesa’s game-changing introduction in the second half, underlining how “he changed the inertia of the evening, until the decisive assist.”

Tuttosport echoed their counterparts’ sentiments and were overjoyed to see the Italian winger’s strong performance, saying: “He put in his usual, contagious desire. And, this time, also the right foot: the one with which he delivers the winning ball to Danilo.”
