It kicks off at the Stadio Bentegodi at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Milan need a victory to retain their two-point lead at the top of the table going into the penultimate round.

Just like the last away match against Lazio, the Diavolo supporters are travelling in their thousands and could out-number or at least rival the number of home fans in the stadium.

It’s reported 16,000 of the 30,000 present will be cheering on the Rossoneri, despite the fact only 2,600 tickets were reserved for away fans.

This is causing a great deal of tension, because inevitably not all of them have tickets for the away section, so some will be peppered around the arena.

Mayor of Verona Federico Sboarina called the decision not to limit the sale of tickets to those coming from outside the city to be “not very intelligent.”

A statement was published by representatives of Verona ultras groups warning Milan fans not to stray out of the Curva Nord.

If their tickets are elsewhere, then they are urged not to carry scarves, flags or celebrate any Milan goals, otherwise this could spark an adverse reaction from the locals.

To make matters worse, this game is not the only event taking place in the city of Verona this evening, as singer Zucchero is also holding a concert at the Arena di Verona.

Extra police are going to be on the streets, with traffic closed to private vehicles not belonging to local residents.
