FC Sion have sacked coach Fabio Grosso after a run of five games without a win in the Swiss Super League.

The 3-0 defeat to Lugano on Thursday was the last with Grosso in charge, as Sion announced the World Cup Winner has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

“Following the sports performances linked to the results of the first team that have created a general unhappiness within the FC Sion family,” the statement read.

“Following the sports performances linked to the results of the first team that have created a general unhappiness within the FC Sion family,” the statement read.

“The club management decided to sack Fabio Grosso. For Sunday’s match in Lausanne, the club will opt for an internal solution and from Monday we will start looking for a new coach.

Sion have scored two points in their last five games and sit ninth in the table.
