Terim remains the only Turk to have ever won a European trophy with a Turkish team – the UEFA Cup with Galatasaray in 2000.
He went on to coach Fiorentina and Milan, guiding the Viola to the 2001 Coppa Italia Final despite their crippling finances.
The Galatasaray boss then coached Milan for the first part of 2001-02, helping build their Champions League-winning team of 02-03.
He made such an impact during his short spell in Serie A that he was awarded an Italian knighthood in 2008.
