Patrick Kluivert has confessed that it is both his and son Justin’s ‘dream’ for the Roma winger to play for Barcelona one day.

Kluivert Sr scored 122 goals in 257 appearances for Barca between 1998 and 2004, and the Clarence Seedorf’s Cameroon assistant made it clear he viewed Roma as a stepping stone for Justin, who only joined the Giallorossi from Ajax over the summer.

“Of course he would love to play for Barcelona one day and he also expressed it in the Press that his goal is to play for Barcelona,” he told La Liga Lowdown.

“Of course at Roma he is [feeling] very good at the moment, they’re a young team with some experienced players.

“He’s fitting in quite well at Roma so I think he needs to begin to play a lot more matches, make a lot more kilometres, and I hope that at the end of the day, he can sign for Barca because that’s also my dream.

“Of course if you see your son follow in your footsteps, that’s great to see. It would be insane, absolutely.

“I think I’ll be a lot more nervous than he is because he’s quite down to earth and he can handle a lot of pressure and you know for the father who can’t actually do nothing on the stand, looking at your son, on the pitch you always played, it’s a strange but very very grateful feeling.”
