Inter's Marco Fassone has discussed President Erick Thohir's €400m investment and revealed his international working habits.

The Indonesian mogul purchased the club in November 2013 to give them a new start, but Fassone admitted it was unusual to work with a President who wasn't always there in person.

“In Italy we're used to physical contact and sometimes we need to look each other in the eyes when talking, but Thohir handles the club the way that international owners do," he said, in an interview with Tuttosport.

The Indonesian mogul purchased the club in November 2013 to give them a new start, but Fassone admitted it was unusual to work with a President who wasn't always there in person.

“In Italy we're used to physical contact and sometimes we need to look each other in the eyes when talking, but Thohir handles the club the way that international owners do," he said, in an interview with Tuttosport.

“He wants to give responsibility to his management and in exchange he expects attention and rigour. That said, he must have come to Milan about ten times since he became the club's owner, and it always meant being submerged in work.

“Moratti like Abramovich? Let me make an estimate. If you count the increase in capital since he purchased the club, other funds injected in the following months and the new financing he had to undergo last year to cover the debts to Moratti and the banks, Thohir invested almost €400m in Inter, out of his personal finances and not only from them.

“He is a solid businessman, he made an economic investment and he wants it to yield profits.”

The director general was asked what would happen should Inter not qualify for the Europa League.

“Economically speaking, the loss wouldn't be substantial. The profits from the cup would be compensated thanks to the summer friendlies.

“But it would damage Inter's prestige in the world, because it would be the second time in three years that we didn't make it into Europe.

“Visibility benefits us and being excluded [from international competition] would slow down the brand's growth.

“We're hoping to see some results in the championship's last 10 games, over and beyond the good football we've already seen.”
