Fassone has been at Inter since May 2012 and has a contract running until 2016, but there has reportedly been a breakdown in his relationship with the club.
This is believed to be both because of Thohir’s restyling of Inter and Fassone’s poor relationship with Bolingbroke.
Gazzetta reports that it appears unlikely that the director general will be immediately replaced, but suggests that Vice-President Javier Zanetti’s role could be altered or that former defender Ivan Cordoba could make a return to San Siro in a directorial role.
