Milan and Inter are currently collaborating to build a new stadium, but former Rossoneri CEO Marco Fassone has claimed the city should have two grounds.

The two clubs have discussed the possibilities of building a new stadium in the fashion capital but Fassone feels one of the two should remain at San Siro to separate the sides.

“During the period in which I was CEO of Milan, I had pursued a strategy that was different,” he told Tuttosport. “Because at that time, in agreement with the Municipality, we believed Milan was the first Italian city ready to have two large stadiums, with a whole series of benefits for the city and for both clubs.

“It’s clear that choosing to build a shared stadium allows the two clubs to spend less and this also has its own logic.

“Instead, I still think one club should stay at San Siro. With a few precautions related to the reduction of capacity, it could still be perfectly functional. The other was supposed to build a new stadium.

“Milan has three or four areas that lend themselves well for this purpose. Me, as an administrator, would prefer to have my own stadium, owned or in concession, but not share it with anyone else.”
