Former Inter director Marco Fassone says the club are ‘built for the Champions League’ and praises Coach Roberto Mancini.
Fassone left the Nerazzurri at the start of the season after three years at San Siro, but is positive about their goals for the season ahead.
"Inter are a team built to go into the Champions League, they will be competitive with the others behind them: Roma, Fiorentina and Napoli,” he said to Radio 24.
“It’s no coincidence that Inter have improved defensively, the first pawns inserted in the transfer market were two centre-backs.
“When you have a lot of 1-0s, playing so-so, they are the seasons that you speak of well at the end, many Scudetti have been won this way.
"Many phone calls by Mancini were important, the Coach can convince players by telling them about the project.
“Roberto is very good because he works a lot with the team that is constructing the squad, he is a great travel companion.
“We all know the weight qualifying for the Champions League, for clubs such as Inter and Milan it’s very important.”
Fassone also took time to dwell on Napoli, another of his former clubs, and hinted at a possible return to the Partenopei.
"Working with De Laurentiis is no more difficult than with others, he’s very good, just look at where Napoli were when he took over and where they are now,” Fassone said.
“After me he hasn’t had a real general director, he’s performed those roles himself and done it very well. There’s nothing to exclude the possibility that in the future I could return to Napoli.”
