Salvatore Esposito, an Italian actor, known for his leading role in the Italian TV series Gomorrah hits back at Liverpool over their offensive tweet about Naples: ‘Liverpool is an important part of the UK’s drug gang infrastructure.’

The Reds caused controversy on Tuesday by adding their fans not to wear team colours when travelling to Naples for tonight’s Champions League clash against the Partenopei.

“We strongly recommend you avoid the city centre. If you chose to visit, please beware that you may be targeted for theft, robbery, or assault,” the Reds said, receiving negative reactions from Italy.

Among them was Salvatore Esposito, one of the most popular actors in Italy. Born in Naples and a die-hard Napoli fan, Esposito shared an article of the BBC where Liverpool is described as ‘an important part of the UK’s drug gang infrastructure.’

“Liverpool fans, we strongly recommend you … Eat a lot of Pizza and have fun in one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” the actor added.

Jurgen Klopp was asked his thoughts on Liverpool’s tweets and whether he’d reassure his fans ahead of their trip to Naples, but the German tactician didn’t seem pleased with the question.

“It’s an embarrassing question. I am not here for your headlines,” he told an Italian journalist during his press conference yesterday (VIDEO).

  1. when Napoli visit Anfield, the club should put out a warning for fans not to take kids with them, as even 9 year olds aren’t safe from guns on merseyside. Maybe also warn the team bus vs missiles and bottles thrown at it. Let’s see how the bin dippers react to that.
