Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza clinched promotion to Serie B earlier this week, with a few familiar faces playing their part.
Monza were propped up to the second tier after Serie C was ended early, but they had long sewn up first place in Group A, building up a 16-point lead over Carrarese in their 27 fulfilled fixtures.
Berlusconi bought the Biancorossi in the summer of 2018, a year after he sold Milan, and invested heavily in new players by lower-league standards.

GK: Eugenio Lamanna
The former Genoa No 1 arrived from Spezia last summer and was an ever-present during the 2019-20 campaign, keeping 15 clean sheets in 27 league appearances.
CB: Giuseppe Bellusci
Best known in England for being one of several Italian imports at Leeds United to pull out of a league game in April 2015, the 30-year-old played at centre-back whenever he was fit.
CB: Gabriel Paletta
The ex-Parma, Milan and Atalanta defender signed for Monza in November after a spell with Jiangsu Suning in China and made seven starts, scoring once against similarly-ambitious Como.
FW: Dany Mota
Once nicknamed ‘CR7 of Chiavari’, the Portugal Under-21 international arrived on loan from Juventus in January and scored twice in six games, providing three assists. His move will become permanent this summer.
Coach: Cristian Brocchi
Brocchi was readymade for the role of Monza coach, owing to his long association with Berlusconi and Milan. Everything seems in place for the 44-year-old to leave a legacy in Brianza.
