Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli has revealed that Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu was ‘one of the few people to call him’ after a seven-month ban for gambling was confirmed this past October: ‘He’s a fantastic person.’
Fagioli and Calhanoglu may cross paths on Tuesday during an international friendly between Italy and Turkey at the Stadio Dall’Ara in Bologna.
Fagioli has recently returned from a seven-month ban for gambling and was surprisingly called up by Luciano Spalletti for Euro 2024.
The 23-year-old has been included in the preliminary 30-man squad but has a fair chance of making it to the final 26-man team.

“Calhanoglu has proved to be one of the top three, four, five midfielders in the world,” Fagioli said at a press conference today.
“He was one of the few people to call me after the ban. I met him a few times, he’s a fantastic person.”
Fagioli has made eight appearances with Juventus this season, including two after the end of a seven-month suspension which was confirmed on October 2023.
Calhanoglu had also congratulated Fagioli on social media after the Italian signed a contract extension with Juventus in November. “Congratulations, brother. I love you,” wrote the Inter and Turkey star.
