Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas is ready to take on his first coaching role, becoming Como’s boss in Serie B.
The 36-year-old is set to be appointed as Como’s new head coach following the sacking of Moreno Longo.
Como beat Ascoli 1-0 away on Saturday, but Longo was fired anyway, and multiple reports in Italy, including Fabrizio Romano, report the ex-Torino coach will be replaced by Fabregas.
The Spaniard was appointed youth team coach last summer after ending his playing career at Como.
This will be his first-ever appointment as a first-team coach.
Como currently sit sixth in the Serie B table with 21 points in 12 games. They are in the play-off zone, eight points below leaders Parma.
Fabregas played 17 games in Serie B with Como last season.
He won the World Cup and the European Championship twice with Spain as a footballer, becoming England and Spanish champion with Barcelona and Chelsea.
