City Group backed Palmero are considering sacking head coach Eugenio Corini and replacing him with former Olympique Lyon manager Fabio Grosso.

The Sicilian outfit currently find themselves sixth in the Serie B table with seven matches left to play, sitting nine points behind second place Como. Six weeks ago, Palermo sat third in the table, just a point behind second, but a run of four losses and a draw since has caused them to fall behind.

Fabio Grosso has been out of work since late November following the end of his brief and explosive seven-match run in charge of Olympique Lyon, where he was unable to turn things around amidst the chaos and tensions.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Palermo are thinking about dismissing Corini following their latest defeat to Pisa and their top candidate to replace him in the dugout is Grosso, who’ll need to be convinced to take over in the middle of the season and not in the summer.

The Sicilian side are one of 12 clubs under the City Football Group umbrella, having been taken over and re-founded in Serie D back in 2019.
