The Azzurri come from a surprising 1-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League last week and aim to bounce back against Sociedad tonight.

Bakayoko, who arrived on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, has appeared three times for Napoli so far and Fabian said the French midfielder’s presence gives him ‘more freedom’.

“I feel good, I have also been well with other players,” Fabian said at a press conference. “We have some great players.

“He [Bakayoko] is more defensive than me, so I get more freedom.”

Fabian admitted he prefers his current position in the side, as Italian media suggested he could do well in Dries Mertens position behind the striker.

“You have to ask [coach Gennaro] Gattuso. A player always wants to be on the pitch, then the position is relative.

“Personally, I feel better further behind, but if the coach wants to put me there, I’ll be there.”

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil said his side were similar to Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli and Fabian seems to agree.

“We both know how to play football, they know how to do it,” he said. “Yes, we are similar and it will not be an easy match.”
