Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and admitted he has yet to speak with new coach Luciano Spalletti.

The Partenopei have allowed their players to talk to the media again and the first to break the silence is Fabian Ruiz.

The Spanish midfielder spoke about the ending to 2020-21 and his future with the Partenopei.

The Azzurri missed out on the Champions League on the final day of the championship and Fabian was obviously very disappointed with the ending under Gennaro Gattuso.

“In one match, the last one,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “That’s football. After the defeat against Juve, we scored 20 out of 24 points.

“We were there, we had done something important and complicated. We didn’t manage to beat Verona and the target vanished despite our great efforts.

“It disappointed me, and that’s why I want to make up for it with the national team. Sometimes football is unfair, but it’s useless to mull over what happened. We must look ahead.”

Fabian Ruiz is preparing for Euro 2020 with Spain and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid after Carlo Ancelotti’s return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

But the 25-year-old admitted he’s ‘happy’ in Naples and wants to focus on the European Championship.

“I’m fine at Napoli, I’m happy,” Fabian continued. “It’s a city that has welcomed me very well, a place where people experience football exactly like at Sevilla. With passion and without pauses, as I like it.

“I still have two years left on my contract and I’m happy. There’s not much to say, apart from the fact that I want to focus on the national team now, the most important thing of my summer.”

Napoli have changed their coach and replaced Gattuso with Spalletti, and the Spain international was asked if he had spoken to the new tactician.

“Not yet.”
