OWNIC is building a new platform where you can put your football scouting knowledge to the ultimate test using a unique connection between the real and digital worlds.

The platform uses dynamic NFT (dNFT) technology to merge the on and off-pitch achievements of footballers with the concept of sports trading cards. You can scout, buy and sell these collectible digital cards, while you can also use them in the games and utilities on offer on the OWNIC platform.

Every dNFT is officially licensed, with Serie A footballers such as Juventus and Italy captain Leonardo Bonucci signing up to the platform so far. Players are given a rating in four different categories on the back of OWNIC’s collaboration with data collection and analysis platform Wyscout, while they also earn Prima Power (xP) by completing certain short and long-term milestones.

You can find out more about OWNIC and how the platform works by joining the Discord community.

What are the card numbers?

The most obvious number on the front of an OWNIC card is the xP. As you can see in the Bonucci example below, the xP is listed as 3.00. This increases the strength of the card within the platform’s games. You can follow this link to read more about the games and utilities available. The higher the xP, the more valuable the card becomes in a monetary sense too. This is useful if you wish to trade cards with other collectors.

On the back of the cards, you’ll see four numbers, rating the player out of 20 for their creativity, intelligence, determination and awareness. This is where the Wyscout data comes in, which is used to rate players based on 250 data points. These are then converted into 26 performance metrics, including things like technique, passing, shooting and tackling, as well as mentality, pressing and aggression. In turn, these metrics produce the four numbers on the card, as you can see below.

What do the numbers do?

The performance metrics assigned to a player form one of the three layers needed to produce a card type. One of these is a player’s age group. There are four age groups within the platform, under-20, 20-23, 24-32 and 33 and up. Players are also classified by their nationality and what league they play in, with the three different layers combining for the card type.

There are 23 of these card types in total, coming under five categories: Special, Dream, Destiny, Challenge and Chance. The Special Editions are the top tier of collectibles, and include Signature cards that bear a player’s digital signature, as well as Tournament and Victory cards that are issued on the back of exceptional performances. Classic cards can be of retired players, while Genesis cards are one-of-a-kind cards issued once a season and have the highest rarity coefficients.

The rarity number is shown on the front of the dNFT card. In the Bonucci card above, you’ll see 1/500. This translates into a weighted coefficient that’s used to generate xP. You can find out much more about xP, what it does and why it’s important when you head over to OWNIC’s Discord server
