Bahraini investment fund Investcorp are preparing to pay around €1.2 billion for Milan, but why are the Rossoneri worth so much?

Investcorp have been in talks with current owners Elliott Management for a number of weeks now and they’re hoping to close out the deal at some point in the coming weeks, with the Bahraini investment fund ready to pay over €1 billion for the club.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, the financial structure of the deal will see Investcorp pay €800m of equity for the purchase of Milan, with another €400m coming from other financiers, including a group of banks consisting of Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.

The €1.2 billion valuation is defined on the basis of the following three factors: €400m for Milan’s new stadium project, €400m for the squad and commercial value and €400 million for the general value of the club and their turnover.

Things could be fully finalised in the coming weeks, with the last concerns relating to various forms of debt the club hold.

  1. Pretty sad to see a historical giant club being sold for 1,2 bil and a historical mediocre club like Chelsea being sold for 5 bil…

  2. Despite all the years of declining growth, Milan is still more valuable than intermilan and juventus! Waow forza Milan…this is incredible…I believe all those champions league is not for nothing! Greatest club in Italy by a mile

  3. People rate Champions League more because they face the best teams under fair circumstances.
Not like in a league where one team can get dubious calls in their favor week in and week out, whilst their opponents are penalized for committing the same acts that the corrupt teams get away with.

Champions Leagues cannot be won in a courthouse either, it’s won by quality teams battling quality teams on the pitch.

Milan earned their respect across the world. The other Italian teams have a lot of catching up to do.

  4. @ Jake, I agree with you 💯 and every of your remarks are spot on. Don’t be surprised that Milan may be the only Italian team that may yet win the champions league again since 2010..where others have failed.. I believe it’s just not in others DNA…but Milan have it and the signs are forthcoming.

  5. Wait wait wait. But why does Investcorp have to pay Elliott Management ANYTHING for the stadium project? There is no stadium project yet. No actual purchase of land or money spent on construction. So how can it be worth 400m euros?

Do you mean that Investcorp will SPEND 800m euros to buy the club and INVEST 400m (for the stadium)? That makes a lot more sense.

  6. @Luigi Maybe that’s a sign that the stadium project is already green-lit and Milan are about to go through with it, minus Inter of course, once the takeover is completed.

  7. 1.2 billion isn’t slot for a sports club anymore. The whole NBA, NFL, MLB, plenty of teams in Prem, Madrid, Barca, Bayern all worth multiple billions. Not a big deal.

  8. the right choice for Milan to sell to be grande again as the right place to be for the champions 7 times winners remember inter juve you cant reach thank you Elliott welcome investcorp make Milan great again
