“We have many players on loans that expire in June,” he told Radio Radio. “They will have to go back to another team from July 1.”

This condition doesn’t only concern the Grifone but Preziosi has a particularly difficult situation to overcome.

Calciomercato.com was first to calculate the existence of 14 players in the current Genoa squad of 28 registered who will be without ties to the Marassi on July 1.

Ten of these are loan deals and some of them don’t involve any obligations or options to extend their stay with the Rossoblu.

Mattia Perin and Mattia Destro are among the ones who are supposed to return to their respective clubs Juventus and Bologna.

Others have an option in their loan deals, but some of the current Genoa players are also on expiring deals.

The two goalkeepers Federico Marchetti and Salvador Ichazo, midfielder Valon Behrami and playmaker Goran Pandev are all on expiring deals.

The implications include coach Davide Nicola, who only signed a six-month deal with the club when he was appointed in December.
