Francesco Totti will have an executive role at Roma once he retires, director general Mauro Baldissoni has revealed.

The 39-year-old is nearing the end of a career that he has spent entirely with the Giallorossi, but is set to remain at the club after hanging up his boots.

Baldissoni also discussed the ongoing fan protests at barriers put up in the Curva sections of the Stadio Olimpico, saying ‘a derby without fans would be sad.’

"Totti will be in our project, he’s out injured and obviously has come to a point in his career where he can’t be used in every match,” he said to Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“He’s the centre of our attention. There is already an agreement with him to continue with a role at the executive level when he decides when to stop.

"There is an obvious problem and a derby without fans would be sad. Those in charge of public order have decided to take stricter measures based on what happened last season and we can only adapt.

“But, as has already been said to Alfano, it’s opportune to propose a broader program to normalise the situation in stadiums.

“Like in the rest of the world, restrictions on access must be reduced and barriers eliminated.

"We are in an advanced authorisation phase for the new stadium, I believe that next spring we could proceed with the laying of the first stone.”
