Spurs had begun negotiations with the former Juventus and Chelsea boss, just after the announcement of Mourinho’s sacking in April.

Sources have told Football Italia that Arsenal have also begun talks with Sarri as they prepare for life after Mikel Arteta, who is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.

Sarri is open to returning to the Premier League after his one-year spell at Chelsea in 2017-18 when he won the Europa League. He is still contracted to Juventus until June 2022.

The Serie A giants could have terminated his €6m-a-year deal by the end of April, paying a €2.5m-a-year fee, but they have not used that option.

That means that if Sarri agrees to join any other club, he would need to free himself from Juventus, or the Old Lady could demand compensation to let the coach leave.
