The Italian-American baseball legend agreed terms to buy the club this evening, having previously been in advanced talks to rescue Parma from bankruptcy a year ago.
“I'm very excited, I am happy the Parma situation was resolved by Guido Barilla and his group,” Piazza told Football-Italia.net in an exclusive interview.

“The Reggiana situation arouse organically we had casual discussions that turned more serious recently my representative and friend Maurizio Franzone was instrumental in finding common ground.
“It will not be an easy project but I really like the region and the fans. We will try to build the team with sound management and discipline, because as you know, the competition is strong.”
Reggiana are based in Reggio-Emilia, the same region as Parma, and play their home games at Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium.
They were in Serie A as recently as 1996-97, but went bankrupt in 2005.
