Alberto Gilardino is unsure of his future in the Genoa dugout amidst contract talks, attracting the attention of Torino and Fiorentina.

The 41-year-old Italian coach took over at the Ligurian outfit back in December 2022, quickly impressing in Serie B before guiding the team back up to the topflight. Their first campaign back has gone well, looking safe from relegation with less than two months left in the season.

This summer, the sands are shifting in Serie A; Vincenzo Italiano has already reportedly decided to leave Fiorentina and Ivan Juric is looking increasingly likely to exit at Torino, showing the evolving nature of the teams competing for European spots.

Gilardino uncertainty

Transfer market expert Matteo Moretto provided an update on Gilardino and his contract negotiations with Genoa via Caught Offside.

The 41-year-old’s agents recently had a meeting with the Rossoblu management, where no agreement was reached regarding a new deal. The coach is unsure about committing his future to the club, having other opportunities, and he’ll meet with the directors again soon.

Torino are seriously interested in Gilardino should Juric ultimately depart, with Urbano Cairo considering him the perfect option, and Fiorentina are also following him, although there’s no consensus in Florence yet. For now, the Italian coach will give priority to Genoa.
