Cagliari are eager to revamp their midfield and therefore targeting both Napoli’s Italy international Michael Folorunsho and Milan-owned Tommaso Pobega.

The Sardinians have new coach Fabio Pisacane at the helm and are hoping to make it a less stressful season of staying in Serie A.

Following the departure of Nicolas Viola as a free agent, they will need to bring in at least one midfielder, and more likely two.

They have several alternatives, including Folorunsho, who was part of the Italy squad at EURO 2024.

The versatile 27-year-old is under contract with Napoli until June 2029 and just returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina, where he was not given many opportunities to shine.

Another candidate is Pobega, who will celebrate his 26th birthday later this month.

A product of the Milan youth academy, he had a series of loans at the likes of Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia, Torino and most recently Bologna.

There was an option to buy for €12m, but the Rossoblu decided against activating it, hoping to negotiate a lower fee.
