Marco Verratti has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid or Saudi Arabia, as the Italy international’s former agent slams PSG for ‘imprisoning and blackmailing’ their players.

The midfielder is the longest-serving star at the club, having joined from Pescara in the summer of 2012 before he had ever played a single Serie A match.

There have been rumours over the last couple of weeks that Verratti could leave Paris Saint-Germain for either Atletico Madrid or the Saudi Pro League, while Kylian Mbappe insists he will not sign a new contract, as he intends to leave for free next summer.

“PSG are imprisoning and blackmailing their players,” Verratti’s former agent Donato Di Campli told Relevo.

“You never get to do what you want there. The PSG attitude is always blackmail. We had decided to go to Barcelona, which obviously the emir did not like.

“Al Khelaifi even told me that if I kept trying to work out the terms with Barcelona, Verratti was going to leave me. And that’s what ended up happening.

“I am sure Marco was frightened, though he won’t admit it If you go against them, everything becomes personal.”

At the time, Verratti left Di Campli and signed with agent Mino Raiola, and it continues to burn the abandoned representative.

“My experience with PSG is very bad. It is a club with no soul, they believe everything can be bought, that they can conquer the world with money alone, but have already seen that is not possible.”

Verratti is now 30 years old and has made 416 competitive games in the Paris Saint-Germain jersey, during which he scored 11 goals and provided 61 assists.

The Italy international also amassed 136 yellow cards and six red.
