Former Morocco international Mustafa El Haddaoui insists Milan target Hakim Ziyech ‘must leave Chelsea’ and ‘join Manchester United.’

The former Ajax star has been struggling with playing time at Stamford Bridge so Milan are planning to sign him on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

“Ziyech needs a breath of fresh air, Chelsea are not giving him trust,” said former Morocco midfielder El Haddaoui, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“The problem with Vahid [Halilhodžić, former Morocco coach], who did not want to call him, affected him. When there is an international match, and everyone joins their national teams, he remains in London.

“He sees his Chelsea teammates play for their countries. He is at their same level perhaps even superior, so he’s lost a bit of self-confidence. Then, when you don’t play, when you don’t have minutes in your legs, you lose motivation and your performance is affected.”

Ziyech hadn’t played for Morocco from 2021 until 2022 under former boss Halilhodžić. He made his first international appearance in more than one year this past September in a 2-0 win over Chile.

“Now, let’s see his potential, and what he can do. He has many offers. He should leave Chelsea and join Manchester United because his former coach wants him in the team,” concluded El Haddaoui.

According to Gazzetta, the Rossoneri want to get Ziyech on loan with an option to buy for €15m in January.

Former Rossoneri boss Arrigo Sacchi has claimed that Stefano Pioli’s side will benefit from the signature of the Morocco international, but only if he moves to San Siro with the right attitude and commitment.

Ziyech’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2025. He has collected just eight appearances across all competitions with the Blues this term.
