Former Milan coach Stefano Pioli has been linked with a move to take over at Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, who currently have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, Aymeric Laporte and former Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic at their disposal.

Al-Nassr plotting move for former Milan coach Pioli

According to reports from Saudi journalist Falahsport and Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Al-Nassr are on the verge of dismissing their current coach Luis Castro, and have Pioli lined up as his successor. Castro is likely to be relieved of his duties after the upcoming game against Al-Ahli on Saturday.

Pioli, who won the Serie A title with the Rossoneri in the 2021-22 season, has been available since the end of last season, when he and Milan decided to part company.

According to Tuesday’s reports, Pioli is still technically under contract with Milan, who did not agree a financial pay-out when the coach left at the end of last season.

That means that until he finds a new job, Milan still have to pay their former boss for the remaining year that was on his contract, which had been due to expire next summer, on June 30.

If Pioli remains out of work until the end of this season, he will have cost the Rossoneri around €4m in wages.
