Former Roberto Mancini assistant Fernando Orsi feels Simone Inzaghi’s playing style suits the Premier League but warns the Italian tactician that he’s already in a top European club.

Inzaghi’s contract with Inter runs out in June 2025 and according to Tuttosport newspaper, several foreign clubs, especially in the Premier League, have set their sights on the Piacenza-born tactician. The Turin-based paper mentioned Chelsea and Manchester United on Tuesday.

Orsi, a former Roberto Mancini assistant at Lazio, who coached Inzaghi at the Stadio Olimpico in the early ‘2000s, thinks the Nerazzurri boss would not struggle to adapt to the Premier League if he moves to England one day.

“He has a European playing style, and I’d see him well in the Premier League because it’s a league that suits his aggressive and dynamic way of seeing football,” he told Tuttosport newspaper on Wednesday, on page 11.

“However, he is already in charge of one of Europe’s top three or four teams. What they did in the Champions League last season has boosted everyone’s self-esteem, and I believe that, after the Scudetto, the next target will be to bring the Champions League back to Milan.

“Everyone thinks 3-5-2 is a defensive system, but Inzaghi has transformed it into an attacking formation,” continued Orsi.

“Inter play in different ways and they are always effective. They have many good players, but their playing style proves that there is deep work at Appiano Gentile.”

The Nerazzurri are the Serie A leaders with a nine-point lead over Juventus, but they will move 12 points above the Bianconeri if they beat Atalanta at San Siro tonight.

“It’s a match point and I think Inter are more focused than in the past,” Orsi admitted.

“The Scudetto is the primary target of Inzaghi and the club and if they beat Atalanta, it will be difficult to think they can waste a 12-point lead and that Juventus will recover as many. Inter’s season is not surprising, but I didn’t expect this impact and this dominion. Right now, they seem unbeatable.”

Inter have won 21 Serie A games from 25 this season, drawing three and losing once.
