Lecce sacked coach Roberto D’Aversa for headbutting Verona striker Thomas Henry and the tactician has also been handed a four-match Serie A ban.

The incident occurred after the final whistle of Verona’s 1-0 win over Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare on Sunday.

Henry had already been booked and was arguing with various Lecce players when D’Aversa walked over, seemingly to help separate them and calm things down, only to instead aim a headbutt at the striker.

This prompted Lecce to sack D’Aversa the day after and now the FIGC prosecutor has confirmed a four-match ban plus €10,000 fine.

Although not official yet, Lecce have contacted Luca Gotti to take over.

Henry was sent off too and has been given a one-match ban for “having a provocatory attitude towards opposition players, creating a tense situation.”

The other Serie A players suspended for this weekend in Serie A are Perez (Udinese), Banda (Lecce), Bonaventura (Fiorentina), Doig (Sassuolo), Fazzini (Empoli) Kastanos (Salernitana), Sabelli (Genoa) and Thorstvedt (Sassuolo).
