Sofian Kiyine, who spent years in Italy attached to Lazio, Chievo Verona and Venezia, is in hospital after being involved in a horrific car crash in Belgium.

The Moroccan midfielder spent seven years of his career in the Italian peninsula, starting out with Chievo before spending time with Salernitana, Lazio and Venezia. He left last summer to join OH Leuven, where he’s featured more consistently.

Media reports detail how Kiyine crashed his career after driving at 200 km/h on a road that had a 90 km/h speed limit. After losing control of the vehicle, it was launched off a roundabout into the air and flew into a gymnasium, where it crashed through the wall.

Luckily, the gymnasium was empty at the time of the accident, and Kiyine did not suffer fatal injuries, although he was rushed to hospital due to serious fractures.

A video, captured on CCTV, showed the scary moment Kiyine’s car was launched from the roundabout into the air.
