Former Juventus forward Carlos Tevez is set to take up his first managerial role with Rosario Central, the club’s vice-president confirmed.

Tevez announced his retirement from football earlier this month and is now set to take up his first coaching position in his native Argentina.

Central VP Ricardo Carloni told TyC Sports: “The board accepted a proposal put forward by Tevez’s staff and we are now moving forward with the negotiations.

“We will be discussing it this weekend. The proposal was approved by the board. The idea is that if all goes well, we could have him by Tuesday.”

Tevez spent two seasons in Serie A with Juventus from 2013 to 2015, where he won back-to-back titles and reached a Champions League final.

He started and ended his career with Boca Juniors, winning the Copa Libertadores during his first spell and a total of five league titles overall.

Following a spell in Brazil with Corinthians where he won another title, he joined Premier League side West Ham United and his goal saved them from relegation on the final day of the 2006-07 campaign.

He then joined Manchester United, where he spent two seasons, winning titles in both and the Champions League in 2008 before leaving for rivals Manchester City, adding another championship.
