Torino forward Simone Zaza is a transfer target for Sassuolo, among other clubs, according to reports in Italy.

Despite Andrea Belotti’s departure, Zaza faces strong competition in the Granata attack from Antonio Sanabria and Pietro Pellegri and could look to leave the club.

Gazzetta dello Sport report Sassuolo are among the sides interested in his services as he ponders where to stay at Torino or move on.

Injuries hampered Zaza last season as he made only 11 appearances in all competitions, failing to register a single goal.

Zaza’s career highlight was arguably the winner for Juventus against Napoli which saw the Bianconeri overtake their rivals and march towards the 2015-16 Serie A title.

He went to the Euros that summer but missed a penalty as Italy were eliminated by Germany in the quarter-finals.

He then moved to West Ham and Valencia on loan, eventually joining the latter before returning to Serie A with Torino in 2018.

Zaza, 31, previously played for Sassuolo from 2013 to 2015 before moving to Juve.

  1. With due all respect, Zaza was never a star player for Italy. I don’t understand why one would write such title.

  2. @ lynchy they just fixed the title. It used to say: “ex-Italy star Zaza…… that’s why I mentioned that.
