Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli feels that the Azzurri’s ‘difficulties in terms of character and temperament’ were the ‘most embarrassing’ thing at EURO 2024.

Former Italy coach Prandelli discussed Italy’s poor performances and results at EURO 2024 during an interview with Fanpage.

“It’s hard to answer this question. I don’t know exactly. Perhaps there were too many expectations and without much time available, Luciano [Spalletti] did what he could,” said the ex-Fiorentina and Italy boss.

“You can’t work miracles like you had a magic wand. All our problems emerged, but honestly, I didn’t expect to see difficulties in terms of character and temperament. That was the most embarrassing thing. It’s ok to have technical or quality problems, but not these. Italy have always had character, this time we didn’t have it.”

Prandelli agrees that Italy’s problems are strictly connected to developing young players in the country.

“Once upon a time there were coaches who tried to preserve the talent, contributing to the players’ psychological growth as well,” he said.

“Today, it seems that they are going beyond talent. They are in love with the systems and not with the technical aspect. This really worries me.”

  1. Its everyone elses fault except the bald genius. No wonder no other team wanted him. Italy have the worst national team coach in whole Europe.
